Sandals vs Beaches: which all-inclusive is right for you?
Sandals and Beaches come up together for good reason — same parent company, same “luxury-included” model, same corner of the Caribbean. The choice between them comes down to one question.
The short answer
- Sandals is adults-only (18+). Couples, honeymooners, friends — a romantic, grown-up atmosphere with no kids around.
- Beaches is built for families. Kids’ camps, waterparks, character experiences, teen hangouts — all ages welcome.
Traveling with children? Beaches. Want an adults-only escape? Sandals. That one decision settles it for most people; the rest is detail.
What they share
Both are “luxury-included,” which goes beyond the usual all-inclusive: meals at every restaurant, premium drinks, tips, watersports (often including scuba for certified divers), and airport transfers are all in. The food and service sit a notch above the budget all-inclusive category — which is why people tend to rebook.
Where they differ
- The vibe. Sandals leans romantic and calm; Beaches leans lively and family-busy. Same quality, different energy.
- Rooms. Sandals is known for signature suites — over-the-water bungalows, Skypool suites, butler-level service. Beaches focuses on family-sized rooms and suites, some with swim-up access.
- Activities. Beaches adds the family machinery — Pirates Island waterparks, kids’ camps by age, character dining, a games lounge for teens. Sandals puts that space into restaurants, bars, and quiet pools.
- Locations. Sandals has many more — Jamaica, St. Lucia, Antigua, Barbados, the Bahamas, Grenada, Curaçao. Beaches has a smaller, family-focused set, anchored by the flagship Beaches Turks & Caicos.
- Price. Per person at a similar room level, they’re broadly comparable. A family trip just costs more in total — there are simply more of you.
Which is right for you?
Start with who’s coming. Adults only, and you want romance or quiet? Sandals. Bringing the kids, and you want everyone entertained without leaving the resort? Beaches. From there it’s about the specific resort — they vary a lot, and the best Sandals for a Barbados honeymoon isn’t the one you’d pick for a friends’ trip.
